Disability Data, Research & Policy
We generate and use disability-focused data and research to influence inclusive policies, strengthen accountability, and close the disability and development gap.
Our Approach
EID-U recognizes that the exclusion of persons with disabilities is largely driven by lack of accurate data and weak implementation of inclusive policies. We work with communities, government institutions, academia, and development partners to generate reliable disability-disaggregated data that reflects real lived experiences at household, community, and national levels.
Disability Data Collection & Evidence Generation
We conduct systematic collection of disability-disaggregated data at household, community, and institutional levels to understand the real experiences of persons with disabilities. This includes identifying barriers to access in health, education, livelihoods, climate resilience, and social protection. Our data generation prioritizes inclusion of women, children, and persons with multiple or intersecting disabilities to ensure that no group is left invisible in development planning
Applied Research & Knowledge Production
EID-U undertakes applied and participatory research to analyze how policies, programs, and services affect persons with disabilities. We work closely with communities, academic institutions, and partners to document best practices, gaps, and emerging issues. Research findings are translated into policy briefs, reports, and learning products that inform decision-makers and development actors.
Policy Analysis, Development & Review
We analyze existing national and local policies to assess their level of disability inclusion and alignment with human rights standards. Where gaps exist, we support the development and review of inclusive policies, guidelines, and implementation frameworks. Our work ensures that disability inclusion is mainstreamed into sectoral policies such as health, climate change, education, WASH, and social protection.
Policy Advocacy, Monitoring & Accountability
Using evidence from research and data, we engage policymakers, donors, and duty bearers to promote inclusive decision-making and accountability. We monitor policy implementation, budgets, and service delivery to ensure commitments translate into real change. Through advocacy dialogues, community feedback mechanisms, and stakeholder engagements, we amplify the voices of persons with disabilities in governance and development processes.
